The Best Recruiting Tools for Recruiters
When it comes to recruitment tools everyone has their personal favourites.
The problem is with so many options available it can be hard to decide what you need, what does what and which are irrelevant. When reviewing tools there is nearly always more than one option. In some instances the best option is obvious because they have a large market share, whereas in others it is less obvious because an inferior product may be prominent because they have a large budget.
In no particular order here is our list of tools, most of which we have used, but a few that we know work but haven’t personally trialled:
These are mostly tools for searching or extracting data. It should be noted Graph Search is still the best way to search, if you don’t have it change your language setting to US English.
Social Scrapers
These tools are generally Chrome Browser Add-ins, designed to cross reference social profiles. We always recommend using more than one of these as they all find different results.
- Prophet
- 360 Social (a little hit and miss at the moment)
- Connect 6
- Discover.ly
People Aggregators
Aggregators search the web for profiles, most are geared towards technology but they are fast expanding.
Tools for searching or managing your followers:
X-Ray Search / Custom Search Engines
These tools are all based on Google Custom Search Engines. I advocate searching directly from nearly every platform first (except StackOverflow), but if you get really stuck then these tools are easier than x-ray search.
Productivity
From shared notes, to international communication and file storage, these are my favourites.
Scheduling emails, previewing social profiles or tracking email opens.
- Boomerang
- Full Contact
- Vibe (far better than Rapportive)
- Hubspot Sidekick
- Crystal Knows
Social Schedulers
Used to post your social content in advance, great if you manage multiple social accounts.
Graphic Design
A modern day recruiter needs to have some graphic design capabilities. These tools make novices look like Van Gogh.
Testing
Because testing candidates (or your team) is always helpful.
